Principal's Message

Dear Limestone-Central Students and Families,

This past school year has been one of many “firsts” in our lives. We have lived through a worldwide pandemic by completely changing the way we have done life for the first time in all of our lives. Many have lost loved ones, lost jobs, suffered illness, stayed inside our homes instead of being active in the world, worn facemasks, stood six feet apart in lines, ordered necessities online, and we have seen our students participate in five different formats of learning. This is just a short list of the ways we have seen our community and the world affected during a very long year. I know you will join me in being thankful that this past school year is behind us as we look forward to what this new school year will bring.

While last year had its share of first-time events, this year is also bringing its own set of “firsts” along with exciting opportunities that we are yet to discover. It is with a happy heart that I tell you I have been asked to serve our school community as Principal, and our Assistant Principal is Dr. Shamona Fernanders. This will be our first year together at Limestone-Central.

This is my 27th year in the field of education, and I LOVE school life. My teaching career began in 1994 at Mary Bramlett Elementary School. I taught 5th grade for three years and took a year off in1997 for the birth of our third daughter. I returned in 1998 when Limestone and Central Elementary Schools merged to form Limestone-Central Elementary School. I taught 3rd, 5th, and 6th grades at LCES. Then, I served the Cherokee County School District as Science Facilitator and as an Instructional Facilitator back at LCES from 2010-2013. For the past 8 years, it has been my honor and privilege to serve the students, families and staff of Blacksburg Middle School as Assistant Principal and Principal.

When I became the Assistant Principal at Blacksburg Middle School in 2013, I was full of anticipation about getting to know everyone and finding my place of service in the new school community. There were times of uncertainty and anxiousness about the new school, the staff, families, and the community. Though these are common feelings when in a new circumstance, we often find ourselves with feelings that are hard to name and/or explain. I knew I had to get to know everyone in my new school home before these feelings would begin to slip away and I would become part of the “Family.” The same is true for all of us this year at Limestone-Central Elementary School. In a sense, we are all leaving home and forming a new home together.

While we are all a bit anxious and uncertain about what this new school year will hold for each of us, I am asking that we give each other a chance to grow together into a new family. We have to do all the family business of learning new people and their personalities, learning new names, learning about new surroundings, learning new school routines and expectations, learning how to be “normal” in school again. This is a lot of “new” and there does not seem to be much “familiar.” This is where the uncertainty and anxiousness can creep into our hearts and the work must begin.

I am certain that we will have the best year yet for our new school family if we work together to make it so! I need your support to help your child achieve at the highest level possible so he or she can be prepared for the next grade level and beyond. Our world is competitive at all levels, and I want our students to be the best! We have a skilled staff for which I have high expectations, and there is much work to be done to grow our students and our school family.

While my heart is sad to leave one school family, I know my heart has room to grow even larger for the students, families, and staff at Limestone-Central Elementary School. Being Principal has been the greatest joy in my work life, and I am excited to be the Principal at Limestone-Central Elementary School. This is the fulfillment of a childhood dream for me. I am asking that we begin a new dream together so that we can change our community and the world. We are Grizzlies…Hear us ROAR!

I look forward to meeting everyone at our Open House on August 12th between 3:00 and 6:00 pm.

Please call the school office if you have any questions or concerns.

With love and thanksgiving for this new adventure together,

Mrs. Bradley
