Principal's Message

Hello Grizzlies!

It is my honor and pleasure to begin our fourth year together at Limestone-Central. Mr. Coggins and I are excited about the learning possibilities this year will bring! Our focus for this school year is to improve our student achievement in all content areas with special focus on writing, vocabulary and mathematics. I am confident that as we work hard to deepen our classroom instruction, our learners will show growth in these areas.

In order to realize the growth that I am confident our students can achieve, we need your help. In a regular school day, our students have approximately 390 minutes in a school day. This is the time calculated from 8:00am until 2:25 pm. Please take a look below at our typical school day’s break down of instructional time:

School Doors Open at 7am for Breakfast and Morning Holding areas.

8:00 School Day Begins

8:05 – Tardy Bell

8:06- Morning Announcements

8:10 Learning begins

Lunch and Recess = 50minutes, Special Area = 40 minutes, Restroom Visits and Walking Time to and from Activities = 20 minutes (=110 Minutes or 1 hour and 50 minutes)

Instructional Time = 270 Minutes = 4 hours and 30 minutes

This time includes instruction and assessment in Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies.

As you can see, our school day appears to have a lot of time, however, the actual instructional time is short. If a student arrives late to school or leaves early, he or she is missing more of the already short instructional time in the school day which reduces the opportunity to learn and grow.

I am asking that you partner with us to help your student(s) accomplish great things this year. Please have your student(s) here on time and ready to learn. We work hard to maintain a loving, kind instructional environment and we expect students to do the same with each other and our staff. You can help your child by checking his or her folder daily, asking for information from the school/teacher, getting involved in a communication platform with your student(s) teacher, and calling the school when you have a question. Please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher in order to find out the teachers preferred method of communication.

Working together, I am certain that our students, your children, will accomplish great things this year. Though we are not perfect and will always be found trying to improve, Limestone-Central Elementary School is THE BEST Elementary School in the Cherokee County School District. I am thrilled to get to watch your children learn and grow again this year! Won’t you join us in making this the very best school year ever for your student?

Working to Reach, Teach, and Equip all Learners,

Mrs. Bradley
